On Thursday (6th March) we had the White Horse Theatre at our school and they performed „Promised Land“.
The play was about a boy named Ravi. He is a refugee and at the beginning he can’t speak English, but he learns fast and he and his mother get asylum in Britain. Now he lives in Gough Street but he isn’t welcomed by the „Gough Street Gang“. They bully and hurt him.
Ravi only wants them to leave him alone but they don’t listen to him. One day Ravi sees Fiz (one girl in the gang) alone. He tells her his story and she starts to like him.
There were three actors, two men and one woman and after the play we could ask questions, for example why Ravi was a puppet.
I think it was a really great event. I liked it because it was cool to listen to some people who speak English every day and I liked the play because it was about an important topic.
